Brand Philosophy
「聚」意味著關係—人與物件的關係、人與空間的關係，以及物件與空間之間的關係。
生活是流動的，關係亦然。如何在當代生活的多重關係中保有彈性，一直是島中聚反覆思考的設計核心—讓物件能回應不同的使用情境、時間節奏與生活狀態。
這樣的思考，來自我們在工坊相處的日常。
擁有自己的木工坊，使製作不再只是工作的過程，而是與生活並行發生的狀態。工藝的藝術性與手作的溫度，透過時間、重複與專注，被完整地落實在每一件作品之中。
工坊的形式運作也讓我們得以保持開放與彈性，在不同需求、空間與關係中，回應屬於當下的選擇。
對島中聚而言，設計不僅關乎形式與功能，更是一種與工坊一同生活，讓關係自然生成的方式。
The idea of “gathering” reflects relationships—between people and objects, people and space, and objects and space.
Life is fluid, and so are the relationships within it.
Maintaining flexibility within contemporary living has always been central to our design thinking: how objects respond to changing uses, moments, and ways of living.
This way of thinking is inseparable from how we work—and how we live.
With our own atelier, making is not a separate act from daily life, but something that unfolds alongside it. The artistry of craftsmanship and the warmth of handwork are carried through each piece, shaped by time, repetition, and presence.
Operating as an atelier-based practice allows us to remain open and responsive—adapting to different needs, spaces, and relationships as they emerge.
For us, design is not only about form or function, but about living with the atelier, and letting relationships take shape naturally over time.

島中聚由兩位主理人 Rex 與 Sophie 共同創立，皆畢業於中原大學建築系。
Rex 在大學期間初次接觸系上的木工坊，從此愛上了手作的樂趣。即使畢業後進入建築師事務所工作，仍不斷在家具木工領域持續精進與創作，累積豐富的實作經驗與工藝理解。
Sophie 則在畢業後進入室內設計公司，長期參與空間規劃與裝修實務，培養出對細節與美感的敏銳度，也更理解設計師在選材與搭配上的實際需求。
2020 至 2021 年間，兩人共同創立了設計品牌「島中聚」，開始承接客製家具的設計與製作工作，以空間為靈感源頭陸續發展出結合工藝與日常使用經驗的產品系列，如【MUMU 木木實木把手】與【ISLET 浮嶼系列家具】。
我們相信設計與手作能讓生活更加踏實而有感，島中聚也將持續以此為核心，探索實木家具與五金之間的美好平衡。
Atelier Gathering was founded by Rex and Sophie, both graduates of the Department of Architecture at Chung Yuan Christian University.
Rex was first introduced to woodworking through the university workshop, where he discovered a lasting passion for making by hand. After graduation, he worked at an architectural firm while continuing to refine his skills in furniture woodworking, gradually building extensive hands-on experience and a deep understanding of craft.
Sophie began her career at an interior design studio, where she was long involved in spatial planning and renovation projects. Through this process, she developed a keen sensitivity to detail and aesthetics, as well as a strong understanding of the practical considerations designers face when selecting and coordinating materials.
Between 2020 and 2021, the two co-founded the design brand Atelier Gathering, taking on commissions for custom furniture design and production. Drawing inspiration from space itself, they gradually developed product series that integrate craftsmanship with everyday use, including the MUMU solid wood handles and the ISLET furniture collection.
We believe that design and handcraft bring a grounded, tangible quality to everyday life. With this belief at its core, Atelier Gathering continues to explore a balanced relationship between solid wood furniture and hardware—where function, material, and making come together naturally.
